Kimono Dragon is a genre-agnostic suite that merges the tactile immediacy of analog synthesis, the deep-rooted lyricism of jazz and the expressive chaos of free improvisation. The album reflects a fascination with texture, circuitry, and mood.
Drawing influence from electronic minimalism, 90's indie rock and free jazz, Campbell crafts a sonic language where upright bass coexists with drones, tape-saturated drum machines, and layered melodic fragments. The compositions unfold with a cinematic patience - organic yet sequenced, meditative yet kinetic.
Featuring contributions from Gunnar Olsen (Bruce Springsteen, Miike Snow), Chris Bear (Grizzly Bear), Zac Colwell (Jupiter One, Fancy Colors), and Ian Young (M83, Leon Bridges), Kimono Dragon invites listeners into an intimate, handcrafted world. It is an album that resists genre in favor of feeling - equal parts nocturnal groove, spectral ambience, and searching improvisation.
