I love this track by Jan Hammer from his album album Melodies. I decided to try my hand at recreating the sample and hold bass sound that he uses so beautifully on it. I used my old Moog Slim Phatty sent through reverb and phase, with the LFO synced to the drum machine. The planing of the major 10ths in the bass paired with the filters' s + h with tons of resonance create the base for one of my favorite synth hits from the 70's. I believe this was originally accomplished with a Mini Moog and the addition of the Moog Sample-Hold Controller model 1125.
